Makeup Per Skin Tone

Different Skin Tones And Makeup:

1. Black Skin Tone:
Black skin varies in tone, and one of the most effective ways to ‘lift’ the skin tone is to steer clear of pale, ashy colours, such as light pink, peach or taupe. Make-up with deep pigments work best for darker skin, complementing the skin’s natural tones. Opt for caramels soft browns, golds and deep greens around the eyes, while lips can carry richer, more dramatic shades. The darker your skin tone, usually the darker your lips, so try berry or wine colours such as burgundies or deep reds. Dark skin tones suit blusher that isn’t too obvious, well-blended, creamy shades or dark pinks and plums, and non-shimmering bronzes give a healthy glow.

2. White Skin Tones:
The paler your skin tone, the more obvious bright colours will look, so when choosing shades, remember the less is more principle. Pinks are a safe bet as they suit everyone, and can open up the eyes, giving a wide awake look. Blue and green eyes are always enhanced by eyeliners, but steer clear of deep black liners around light eyes. Instead, look for navy, violets, smoky greens and greys. Tawny or pink blusher looks more natural than brick-orange or browns. Redheads tend to have a very pale skin, and often think they can’t wear pinks, instead opting for oranges and corals. However, pink cheeks give a flush of healthy colour for a lifted and more vibrant appearance.

3. Asian Skin Tones (Far East):
Make-up artists will always use cosmetics that have a yellow base on Asian skin to even out imperfections and brighten the tone. This skin tone is best suited to tawny or spicy shades for a more natural look. Browns, apricots, plums and coppers all enliven the face, while opting for reds and browns on lips will complement your natural colouring. Eyeliners can be dark for a smoky effect, try dark brown instead of black, and if your skin tone is light, try pink lips. However, well-blended turquoise greens, bright pinks and even yellows can make the eyes look stunning for the more adventurous.

4. Asian Skin Tones:
Your skin tone is perfect for yellow-based foundations, and deep, rich, jewel eye shadows. Soft tones can look also beautiful, greens, hazels, and deep pinks are all natural accompaniments to this tone. Steer clear of oranges and corals, or overly pale shades. Carefully blended eyeliner can give eyes a vibrant, smoky look, forest looks stunning, as does copper. Pale lipsticks will give a washed-out effect to the face and should be avoided, rich reds and lush browns are more complimentary and enlivening.
